  I suppose it's hard to keep accurate statistics though, if people don't voice up their opinion. I guess he forgets about responding to these reviews that I apparently should also have read before shopping. He even goes as far as rating his own store with 5 stars.

  I have purchased many items from his store as gifts for family members and never had a problem with returns if not right size / colour / style etc BUT I was informed of return policy verbally as well as well posted so I followed the guidelines.

  My point ..... Kevin could have sold me a new $200.00 + jacket but he didn't. I had no illusion that the warranty offered by Mountain Hard Wear would cover what I pretty much thought was just wear and tear from constant use.

  I guess I'm just another naive consumer, as Kevin (the Owner) so kindly pointed out. Their shop didn't do anything wrong, and as the customer it's all my fault for deciding to buy something that I later found to be uncomfortable to wear (after leaving the presence of his friendly and encouraging sales staff).

  I had a great shopping experience with Kevin at Ski Surf & Kayak Shop--and I haven't even been to the shop! :) I was looking for a couple of lightweight kayaks and found the two in the photos on-line at Kevin's shop. I called and worked with Kevin and his staff on purchasing them. Kevin and Karin were very cordial, professional, and helped us through the purchase process (Kayaks and accessories). The prices were great for the products, Kevin flexed on a few items too. Not only that, Kevin found someone to transport both the Kayaks and our new gear from Vancouver Island to Kelowna. They showed up in great shape and we immediately put them to good use! Here they are at Kalamalka Lake. Highly recommend Kevin's shop -- whether you are in Courtenay or are just looking for gear online.

  Apparently he hasn't heard of anyone annoyed about their return/exchange policy - he says that of his 10,000 customers per year, I am the odd one out. His responses to my telephone queries sounded so rehearsed, and his staff are well trained at deflecting unsatisfied customers. Seems as though they encounter this scenario fairly often.

  I had purchased a Mountain Hard Wear 3 season hooded rain jacket from Ski Surf and Kayak shop in the Spring of 2011. I wore that jacket for the better part of four seasons each year until Spring 2017 when after a washing in Tech wash I noticed some of the membrane was was flaking off. I stopped by and spoke with Kevin to checkout getting a new jacket. When I told him why he told me to contact MH head office and send them photos of jacket. He provided me with contact info and said to hold off on the new jacket. I returned home took a couple of photos and emailed to the Warranty Department. I heard back within 48 hrs with an Return authorization number. I sent it in for inspection and about 2 weeks later I received an email that their warranty program would cover the "defect" after 6 years of hard use. Within a week my new jacket was at the door costing me only $8.00 in postage and mailing package to return the jacket to the USA head office.

  I bought a pair of ski boots from Kevin over 20 years a go and remember how much he took the time to insure that I had the best fit possible. So, Ski and Surf was the first place I thought of when my girlfriend needed needed a new pair. Thanks Kevin, again, for taking the time to insure we were happy with our purchase. I will definitely shop at Ski & Surf again!
