  Like having coffee in Middle Earth. Very unique interior design inspired by forests of old. Drink your hot or cold beverage in a tree-like alcove. Cozy, but can get crowded. Nice patio. Lots of seniors hanging out.

  Wonderful little spot. Working in Courtenay, I enjoy breakfast at the Common Ground every morning.

  Was very excited to try this local spot after reading reviews and seeing pictures, but was ultimately disappointed. The food was good, but not worth waiting an hour to be seated for. Server was not friendly, and did not come over once while we waited for a table to give us a time estimate, or to apologize for the long wait. Staff needs to encourage turn-over, as there were multiple tables of customers who had finished their meals long before deciding to leave.

  Simple, lovely food. I really, really appreciate a place that offers a handful of delicious breakfast options that don't include pork. It's a refreshing change.
