Had an excellent experience. Glad to have this type of business in this community. Would recommend their service and expertise.

They will refund under NO circumstances. Even when product had not been opened. They say it is customer's responsibility to ask, not theirs to divulge. Would not let me speak to store owner, or pass on my contact info. Told me at one point "we don't care what our customers think" also told me " refund check was in the mail" because I was so insistent, but it wasn't, and they denied saying this. Buyer beware here!!

Looking at my receipt I saw an $8.50 charge for fitting a basic wrist brace which took 4 minutes, and I could have done myself. Beware! They have a mandatory floating service charge that they are not up front about. The owner said they have signs in the store stating the service charge and he wasn't conciliatory in the least that I never saw them.Bottom line: Store policy comes first, not the customer

Too bad this review won't let me pick zero stars. I have concerns regarding the practices of this local business that caters to our community senior citizens. I went into the Home Medical Shop in Courtenay and bought my wife a Moist Heating Pad (for Christmas) for $223.00 and the store employee said that due to the popularity of these items they would be putting in an order shortly and they would call when they came in. The employee knew it was a gift. I went in this week and requested a refund. Keep in mind I have not yet received this very popular item that apparently they can not keep in stock as they sell so quickly. They said that they do not EVER do refunds. Even though they knew it was a gift. I was asked to put a deposit down, but didn't want my wife to have to pay anything when she picked it up so I paid in full. They made NO MENTION of their policy. Big Shout out to Winners who informs the customer every time they buy a 5$ pair of underwear!! I have since been online to read the reports on this business they have a failing grade (D-)with BBB and many customers had written up similar experiences. The employees are trying to tell me this is a "special order" item even though it is regular stocked, popular item. If you are a small business owner in the valley, this definitely sours me to shopping locally! I also feel like the majority of this businesses customers are elderly and maybe would not question a business conducting themselves this way.

I have been in this store twice in the last 6 months. Once with my mother-in-law when I felt they talked over her instead of asking her what she needed, we left and didn't purchase anything. Today I went in there with my mum, the lady who talked to us claimed to be the owner. We asked about a mobility scooter and without asking any questions she said " i would not let your mom use that scooter , it is too big for her" - after a few minutes of talking to her she decided the scooter we first asked about was the one we should get, and, that the "other store" didn't know anything about these products but she has been in the business for over 32 years so she was in the know. Twice now i have been shocked at the way they have treated a potential customer - that is a 100% bad experience for me, I would not recommend this store and I am sure that my mom will make her purchase elsewhere.
